I hate cleaning and will make plenty of excuses to get out of doing it. I was trying to vacuum my home with a dirt devil vacuum that I bought for about 40$. I know, I know. What I was I? Crazy? When a big move came, I needed to get serious about my cleaning. I invested in this vacuum cleaner and I've learned (for the millionth time) that you need the right tools to do a job right. If I had known what I know now... This does it all. I couldn't believe the dirt, dust, and garbage that this vacuum got up in a few minutes. It was so easy to use, that I was inspired to do more than I had planned to do. It actually changed the shade of my carpet!

I used to clean my shelves with a feather duster. No more. With the brush attachment, I did my shelves in a fifth of the time it would have taken by hand. Pet hair? This thing sucks it up without any problem. Emptying out the dirt canister took about two minutes. It also has a neat cranking mechanism to shake out the paper filter--and, boy, did the filter collect a lot of dirt! I am one happy customer. I will be dreading cleaning day a lot less now. I can't compare this to any other vacuum cleaner in its price range but if you are trying to clean with some cheap vacuum cleaner, do not hesitate to put out the money for this baby. It will lessen your work, dramatically improve the cleanliness of your home, and make your life easier.

I highly recommend this vacuum. I received it two weeks ago after purchasing on Amazon and it is hands down the most superior vacuum I have ever owned, and definitely outperforms other vacuums I have paid a lot more for. I always shop the field and do fairly extensive research for all consumer purchases. We consulted Consumer Reports and this model ranked fairly high in overall performance yet had a reasonable price tag. We have about 1800 square feet of carpet, most of it medium-pile. We have one australian shepard, three manx cats, and a two-year-old child, so pet hair and dander pick-up were important to us, as well as filtering. This model comes in a bagged version, the bagless version (the one I bought), and a bagless self-propelled version. I found the bagged version in some local stores, but I am not interested in a bagged vacuum. My local Costco carried the self-propelled version, but it was very very heavy and besides I just don't understand why the self-propelled feature even exists. This vacuum is very quiet for it's power. It has exceedingly powerful suction. The dirt sensor has two modes - normal and sensitive. The sensitive setting is truly microscopically sensitive. The vacuum is relatively light weight for its size.

Either way, this feature works and it is helpful in high-traffic areas. Best Feature #1: The canister is almost "self-cleaning". You have to see it to understand, but there are two chambers...the first chamber contains the primary filter, and then all the medium and course particulate and hair and whatnot fill the second chamber. Our house smells better after running this vacuum. We breath easier. This vacuum is so good I would by it new every six months if I had to. Oh yeah, the detachable pet hair attachment actually works!

This vacuum has a well thought out design. The hoses are on the side so they don't get in the way. The wheels are rubber, so they don't scratch the wood floor. The canister with the filter has a wheel you can turn that causes it to rub against an agitator to make the heavy dust fall off. The bottom of the canister opens, so the dust falls out easily. I love the green light/red light to let me know how clean the floor is.

The canister comes in and out easily also. The vacuum also works very well suction-wise. It is not self-propelled, but has so much suction that it seems to take off by itself! I looked at a lot of vacuums with goofy designs - this one is designed well and works great.
